Patricia and Ryan - the wedding

Yesterday, I headed out to Drayton Valley to get pictures of Patricia and Ryan's wedding.

I had a really hard time picking my favourite shot of Patricia, but I really like this one - we had a few quiet moments before she started to get dressed.
Here is a great picture of the women in Patricia's family. Her mom, her baba, her sister (and best girl) and her niece.

I had to throw in two of Brooke, because, how stinking cute is she?!? I loved how mellow Patricia was about her niece's participation in the wedding.

After taking photos of Patricia and her family, I headed over to see Ryan and his boys.

Ryan had this great idea for a picture. I love it!
We did the formals before the ceremony (which is a great idea, by the way, it was really relaxed and laid back, and we had lots of time to get in all the shots we wanted.)
I love these dresses so much. This shade of pink is one of my favourite colours. Everyone looking very GQ.
We did the formal shots at Ryan's boss's acreage. Its a beautiful location, with a pond in the middle. The guys really, really, really wanted to get in the canoe, but Patricia (and I) vetoed the idea - unless it was on dry land. So they did.
Then, after a few glasses of champagne, and some amazing hors d'oeuvres, we headed off to the ceremony - which was beautiful and emotional (I have a lot of pictures of Patricia with a kleenex clutched in her hand through out the day).
This is one of my favourite moments of the day. Ryan's dad is giving a welcome speech to Patricia, and talking about what a wonderful son he has. He is obviously so proud of his son(s) and loves Patricia very much. There weren't many dry eyes in the house. (In this picture, Patricia's sister is beside her, and Ryan's brother on the other side.)
And here, Ryan is telling Patricia how much he loves her, and how much she means to him.

You guys are beautiful together. I hope you have a great honeymoon!

Kim and Martie - the wedding

This is Kim.
This is Martie.
This is Kim and Martie married. Whooohoooo!!!!!!!!!
Last weekend I had the privilege of sharing in Kim and Martie's wedding day. They are such an beautiful couple, inside and out.
Here, a moment between Kim and her mom and dad.
Kim and Martie's nieces and nephews - who, by the way, were awesome during the ceremony, and great for the pictures.

This is Martie's mom, having a "moment" while we were taking family pictures. She is so sweet, and I can see where Martie gets it from.
The smokin' hot girls.
The super-cool guys, flexing their muscles.

And, the beautiful couple. The way they look at each other, and how they are together is so wonderful. Kim and Martie, I wish you a marriage filled with much love, joy and happiness.

Happy Canada Day

I know, I know - I'm two weeks late! I even missed Bastille Day by two days.

We spent Canada Day with my best girl Lana, and her awesome family.

Here's Lana showing of her first tattoo, which she dreamed. Its the Cree Syllabary.
Lana's mom, Pearl - its pretty clear where Lana gets her good looks from.

Lana's sister Gabrielle (at the far end of the table)is vying for the title of Ms. Cree Martha Stewart. She decorated the whole house and yard with red streamers and balloons, Canada flags, and had the great idea of making luminarias. No simple folded over paper bags here - no, these were decorated like snowflakes.
This is Trinity, Lana's niece, showing me how she can stick her tongue out where her teeth are missing. Check the flags in her hair.

I've known Trinity, since before she was born. The first time Gabe met her, she bit him, which was his first introduction to the wild world of childhood (don't worry, since then Gabe has more than made up for it!). I was a little worried about the two of them this time because I wasn't sure if he'd remember, but Gabe adored Trinity, who is one smart and sweet little girl.
And of course he adores his Meme too.
Here's Lana and James and their three awesome kids.
And, courtesy of Gabrielle - all the kids had neon light sticks, which they were most impressed with.

My Boys

I've been terrible at posting lately - life, y'know.

Here's a few of my boys since they haven't made an appearance on my blog for a while.

How cool is this picture?! An old school merry-go-round, the world's largest mushroom (I feel like I should capitalise that!), and my kids in their pyjamas.

Our dear Isaac is terrified of dogs (and cats, and cows, but birds are ok!). If the dog is more than 10 feet away, he's ok, and happy to talk about the puppy. If it gets any closer, he starts to shriek and scrabble up the leg of the nearest person. He actually touched a dog for the first time the other day. My chiropractor has this amazing, mellow sweet dog, that Isaac has seen at least once a month since he was born, and finally he touched Momo.

However, in this picture, he's looking rather suspiciously around my legs for Lucy. Who he hasn't known for 2 years. Just a couple hours. But, holy, is he cute!
Me and my little, swinging on the hammock.
Gabe, with his dear Meme.

Olivia and Neil

Last week I had an e-session with Olivia and Neil. They are tons of fun, and their wedding will be great. They're having a multi-colour, pink, orange and red colour theme, and Olivia is having her boy friend (not boyfriend!) stand up with her instead of bridesmaids.

This is close to the spot where they got engaged a year ago. I Keep getting clients who know how to pose. Its awesome!

They obviously adore each other.

Here we are hanging out in an alley down town. It was about 30 C that day, so the smell of garbage was a little strong. There was a big garbage bin in our way, so we moved it - not sure if we were supposed to or not, but this wall is way to cool not to use as a back ground. We did get yelled at by someone in an SUV who wanted to get past, but the cop in the next shot didn't look twice at us (I though I'd keep him in the picture for a little extra ambience.)

This session was so much fun, thanks for spending the afternoon with me, and I can't wait for your wedding!

Caitlin and Scott

Last week I had a great session with Caitlin and Scott. Caitlin is wickedly funny, very sweet, and downright luminous. Scott started out a little shy in front of the camera, but soon his obvious adoration for Caitlin shone through.

They wanted pictures with a more urban feel, so we went digging through alleys in downtown Edmonton. This is one of my favourite buildings, with great graffiti.

Later, we went to the spot where they're getting married, which overlooks the river valley.

Usually during engagement sessions, I try to get a ring shot. I love this twist though - Scott got his tattoo, with Caitlin's name, because he can't wear a wedding ring at his job.
I'm really looking forward to your wedding, and I am honoured that you are sharing such an important part of your lives with me.
